How can I check my pinky ring size?

Whether you’re located in the USA or abroad, you can get your pinky sized at a local jewelry store or purchase a ring sizer online - just search for multisizer on Amazon or eBay. Make sure to size the pinky you will be wearing the ring on (left vs. right), as your hands are not the same size. A good rule of thumb? Your pinky is usually two sizes smaller than your ring finger.

I have a pinky ring that fits, but I’m not sure of the size. What can I do?

If you have a ring in your possession that fits and you’re not sure of the size, you can use the site: www.findmyringsize.com. A good rule of thumb is to buy a pinky ring two sizes smaller than your ring finger size, though we definitely recommend getting sized to be sure.

What if I need a size you don’t carry?

Our standard sizes range from 2.5 to 7. All rings can be resized by your local jeweler - though you should consult with them regarding how much they can be sized.

Do you accept international orders and ship internationally?

At this time we only ship to the United States. Stay connected to see if this changes in the future.

I know my ring size, but it’s not a US size. What should I do?

What is a lab-created stone?

Lab-created stones have the same physical, optical and chemical properties of natural stones, including hardness, density and appearance. Simply put, they are biologically the same to natural stones, but come from a lab instead of the earth. Pretty cool, right? Lab-created stones are conflict-free and environmentally friendly compared to mined stones. We think Mother Nature likes that we use them.

Will my ring get scratched?

Precious metals like Sterling Silver and 14K gold always get scratched, just like we wrinkle when we age. Embrace both scratches and wrinkles. They are symptoms of LIFE.

How long will it take for my ring to ship?

Rings are made to order and can take up to two weeks to produce. If you need your pinky ring by a specific date, or would like to know your precise ship date, please email hello@fredandfar.com before placing your order, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

How should I take care of my ring?

Honor your commitment by taking care of your pinky ring. Remove your ring when engaging with chlorine, salt water, household cleaning chemicals and extreme heat or light. All gemstones are susceptible to being chipping or scratched, so we advise taking your pinky ring off before you do anything too aggressive.

What tips do you have on caring for sterling silver?

Sterling Silver requires your regular care to prevent tarnish. Acids commonly found in the air, water, lotions, perfumes, soaps and household cleaning supplies can produce a reaction and cause silver to tarnish. The best approach is to get dressed and ready for your day, and then slip on your ring as a final affirmation that your day will be one filled with self love.

We suggest taking off your ring when washing your hands, are in a pool or ocean, excessively sweating, sunbathing, or cleaning, as chlorine, cleaning chemicals and even sunlight can lead to tarnish. It’s also best to store your ring in an airtight box when you’re not wearing it such as the jewelry box it comes in (as air can cause oxidation, and tarnish over time).

If your ring becomes tarnished, don’t worry: caring for silver is easy. You can polish with a silver polish or microfiber cloth, or can create a salt bath as described below. You can also wash with ammonia- and phosphate-free dishwashing soap.

Salt Bath (for Sterling Silver Ring Maintenance):

Fill a cup with hot water. Add one tablespoon of salt and stir until it dissolves. Tear a few strips of aluminum foil and put them in the bowl. Place the ring in the cup and stir. The combination will reach with the tarnish on the silver’s surface to restore the ring’s shine.

What tips do you have on caring for gold?

To maintain the appearance of your gold ring, we suggest removing it before exercising vigorously, going in the pool or ocean, or cleaning. You can wash your hands with it, and even shower, but keep in mind that as with all jewelry, you will need to clean it from time-to-time to ensure it always looks its best.

Help! My ring turned my finger green. How come, and what do I do?

Both silver and gold are alloys, which means they contain a mixture of metals, including copper (especially in the case of rose gold, which uses copper to achieve its signature tone). Some people are allergic to copper, which means that their skin has a reaction with the metal and causes green discoloration. This isn't dangerous, but no one likes a green finger. The best option is to coat the interior of your ring with clear polish to create a barrier. Sterling silver can also have the same issue - a reaction with the natural acids in your skin that causes green/black tarnish/discoloration. Use a silver polishing cloth to keep your ring free from tarnish, and make sure to avoid using hand lotion when wearing your ring or exposing it to cleaning supplies including soap.

My gem looks dull. What should I do?

To maintain the brilliance of your gem, simply wash your ring with ammonia- and phosphate-free dishwashing soap and lightly scrub the underside of the stone with a soft bristle brush. Avoid brushing the metal as it may scratch. You can also use a jewelry cleanser. Our favorite trick is to boil jewelry with some dawn dish soap, and then gently brush the underside of the gem before rinsing with cool water. The result is magic!
