Frequently
Asked Questions

How can I check my pinky ring size?

The best option is to get your pinky sized at a local jeweler. Make sure to size the pinky you will be wearing the ring on. You can also select SIZER as your ring size and purchase the ring, and we will ship you a sizer. Once we have your ring size, we will process your order. You can also visit this nifty website: www.findmyringsize.com. A good rule of thumb is to buy a pinky ring two sizes smaller than your ring finger size. We definitely recommend using a sizer to be sure. Our standard pinky ring sizes range from 2.5 to 6.5. If you need a custom size, you can still purchase a ring by selecting CUSTOM. If you know your size, but it's not in US sizing, visit our Size Chart to convert it. During checkout, you'll be prompted to enter the custom size you want. Please make sure you know your size, as we individually create each ring, and cannot accept returns or exchanges.

What if my ring doesn't fit?

We suggest you visit a local jewelry store to size your ring for you at your expense.

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

We do not accept returns or exchanges. We will only exchange the ring if it arrived in defective condition. If the ring is defective, return it within 5 days for us to inspect. If it is indeed defective, we will ship you a replacement ring (with the same specifications). We reserve the right to refuse any return/exchange of any item that does not meet these requirements.

What is a lab-created sapphire?

Lab-created sapphires have the same physical, optical and chemical properties of a natural stone, including hardness, density and appearance. Simply put, they are biologically the same (if not superior) to natural sapphires, but come from a lab instead of the earth. Pretty cool, right? A lab-created sapphire is not a synthetic gem like cubic zirconia or moissanite.

Will my ring get scratched?

Precious metals like Sterling Silver and 14K gold always get scratched, just like we wrinkle when we age. Embrace both scratches and wrinkles. They are symptoms of LIFE.

How should I proceed with a return/exchange?

If you need to return your ring because it is defective please contact hello@fredandfar.com. You must return the ring in its original packaging.

How long will it take for my ring to ship?

Each ring can take up to 2 weeks to ship. If you need your pinky ring by a specific date, or would like to know your precise ship date, please email hello@fredandfar.com before placing your order and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we do! Please note that taxes, duties and custom fees are not included in the cost of the shipping fee. Your country may require you to pay additional clearance fees (such as duties, taxes and custom fees) in order to receive your package. You can check the potential charges on www.dutycalculator.com. Please note all prices on our site are in US Dollars. For international orders please check your conversion rates. If you have any additional questions, please email hello@fredandfar.com

I changed my mind. Can I return the ring?

Make your commitment wisely, as we do not accept returns or exchanges.

I want to give a pinky ring as a gift.

When you place your order, please indicate GIFT along with the recipient’s name in the additional notes field and let us know if we can include a personalized message for you. All pricing details will be removed. If you are unsure what the recipient's pinky size is, select SIZER when selecting ring size  and we will mail them a sizer package to get the order going.

How should I take care of my ring?

Honor your commitment by taking care of your pinky ring. Remove your ring when engaging with chlorine, salt water, household cleaning chemicals and extreme heat or light. All gemstones are susceptible to being chipping or scratched, so we advise taking your pinky ring off before you do anything too aggressive.

Sterling Silver Care Instructions:

Sterling Silver requires your regular care to prevent tarnish. Acids commonly found in the air, water, lotions, perfumes, soaps and household cleaning supplies can produce a reaction and cause silver to tarnish. The best approach is to get dressed and ready for your day, and then slip on your ring as a final affirmation that your day will be one filled with self love.

We suggest taking off your ring when washing your hands, are in a pool or ocean, excessively sweating, sunbathing, or cleaning, as chlorine, cleaning chemicals and even sunlight can lead to tarnish. It’s also best to store your ring in an airtight box when you’re not wearing it such as the jewelry box it comes in (as air can cause oxidation, and tarnish over time).

If your ring becomes tarnished, don’t worry: caring for silver is easy. You can polish with a silver polish or microfiber cloth, or can create a salt bath as described below. You can also wash with ammonia- and phosphate-free dishwashing soap.

Gold Care Instructions:

To maintain the appearance of your gold ring, we suggest removing it before exercising vigorously, going in the pool or ocean, or cleaning. You can wash your hands with it, and even shower, but keep in mind that as with all jewelry, you will need to clean it from time-to-time to ensure it always looks its best.

Gem Care Instructions:

To maintain the brilliance of your gem, simply wash your ring with ammonia- and phosphate-free dishwashing soap and lightly scrub. This will also ensure the brilliance of your band (gold or silver).

Salt Bath (for Sterling Silver Ring Maintenance):

Fill a cup with hot water. Add one tablespoon of salt and stir until it dissolves. Tear a few strips of aluminum foil and put them in the bowl. Place the ring in the cup and stir. The combination will reach with the tarnish on the silver’s surface to restore the ring’s shine.
