Mother’s Day is coming up on May 13th and we want it to make it as easy as possible for you to do something nice with your mom on her day! Below are 8 activities you can do together, ranging from super easy to more complex. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you let your mom know how much you love and appreciate her!
1. Have breakfast in bed
Nothing beats a delicious homemade breakfast delivered to you while you’re snuggled up in bed. This may take an early morning to cook and deliver, but your mom’s face will light up when she sees you (and your goodies) first thing on Sunday morning. Check out some of our breakfast in bed ideas here and get cooking!
2. Take her to a movie
It sounds so simple, but when was the last time you saw a movie with your mom? Order takeout and re-watch a classic at home or go out to a theater and see something new! Watching a movie together is a great way to create new memories with your mom and bond over a similar interest, or celebrity crush.
3. Go on a bike ride
The spring weather right now is perfect to enjoy the outdoors without it being too hot or too cold. Research a fun trail or scenic road and spend an afternoon riding along with your mom! Biking is a great low-impact exercise and an ideal opportunity to catch up on everything going on in your busy lives. No bikes? No problem! Take a walk through the park or along a scenic path and simply enjoy each other’s company, and the perfect weather!
4. Get pampered
Whether at home or at a spa, spend the day pampering yourselves! Check Groupon for local spa deals, lots of places will have good Mother’s Day deals! Make a whole day out of it -- manicures, facials, massages and more! Pampering yourselves will make you two feel like a million bucks and you’ll both feel relaxed and rejuvenated. It’s also a perfect way to practice self care with your mom!
5. Make a memory jar
If you and your mom are the crafty type, making memory jars together is a perfect way to spend your day! Pick up some scrapbooking supplies and mason jars from your local craft store, and have your mom pick some of her favorite photos of you two or her favorite grandkids. Drug stores often have deals on photo prints if you can’t print them at home and whichever photos you don’t use, you can save and frame. For a cute jar that you can use for anything, we’d recommend using modge podge to collage your photos around the jar and add in some fun floral stickers or little notes to each other!
6. Cook something
If your mom loves to cook, set up your kitchen for Master Chef Mom! Join her in making a delicious dinner together and set the table for a date night with mom complete with wine and candles. If cooking isn’t your jam, try baking cookies or anything that will get your hands messy and allow you to do something fun with your mom! If you really want to spoil her, you can keep her out of the kitchen all together and treat her to a homemade meal.
7. Have a picnic in the park
WIth spring here and summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to spend your days outside and with what better partner than your mom! Not one for cooking? Head to your favorite market and pick out some prepared foods and have a picnic in the park! Make it as easy or sophisticated as you like with cheese and crackers or a 3 course meal. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on your mom to let her know you care, simply spending the day with her and enjoying quality time together will mean so much more to her than something expensive.
8. Take a class together
Fun classes are all the rage right now, and a perfect activity to do with your mom! Search your town for classes like wine and painting, floral arranging, cupcake decorating or maybe even a dance class. These are great activities to be creative and have some fun with your mom and may even inspire you to pick up a new hobby. The best part is that with most of these classes, you get to take something home to commemorate the event, though I bet something like cupcakes wouldn't last too long once they're home!
9. Tell your mom how much you love her
Most of these activities are dependent on your mom living near to you. We know that that’s not always the case, and that you deserve to be able to make your mom feel special and loved wherever she is. Simply sending your mom a thoughtful card or giving her a call will make her feel so appreciated regardless of your location. At the end of the day, telling your mom how much you love her is the best gift she could ever ask for!
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our amazing tribe mamas and mamas of our tribe!
