This past January, I was 5 months pregnant with my twin girls, working from home full time and also raising my (then) 2 year old son. Then the unthinkable happened: I was laid off from my job. Suddenly, we were left with only my husband's income for our rapidly growing family.
Just a few weeks later, right before I was set to give birth to our twins, COVID shut everything down. And, in the midst of all that craziness, our twins were born a month early. They spent that month in NICU. So for a month, I drove an hour there and an hour back to see our girls, while also ensuring my son was loved and taken care of.
While caring so much for others, I also made a promise to take care of myself so I could be strong for my children. Now that I have my ring, every time I see it on my hand it reminds me of that promise I made to myself. Happily, our girls came home on Mother's Day. They are now 7 months old & my son is almost 3.
